WorldHeart develops and commercializes pulsatile and rotary Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs) intended for long-term support of patients with late-stage heart failure. Our Novacor® LVAS is well established in the marketplace, with approval for use in North America, the European Union and Japan.
It is the first successful Bridge-to-Transplant Left Ventricular Assist Device, the first and only device to meet the multi-year Device Readiness Test Protocol of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the first to surpass six years of support in a single patient.
In addition, we are developing the Novacor II LVAS as well as the Levacor VAD. Just half the size of its predecessor, the Novacor II LVAS is designed to be the first fully implantable pulsatile VAD without a volume compensator. The Levacor VAD is a magnetically levitated rotary pump that is designed so that it is without bearings, friction and wear with only a single moving part suspended in blood to meet the demanding needs for long-term implanted use.
With more than 1,700 Novacor® LVAS recipients, WorldHeart products enable recipients to return to their homes, hobbies, jobs and families.
