The PediaFlow® VAD Consortium is funded by a $4.5M contract from NIH. It is one of five such contracts awarded in the United States.

The Principal Investigator on the NIH Contract is Dr. Harvey Borovetz of the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Borovetz is chairman of the Department of Bioengineering and is a faculty at the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

Status

  • Since 2007, WorldHeart and its R&D consortium members for the PediaFlow® VAD have achieved several developmental milestones including acute and chronic animal trials with PediaFlow® VAD prototypes.
